Metal cover ring concealing the connection between the microscope body and the intermediate tube (the so-called trino / photo intermediate tube) for Zeiss Universal and Photomicroscope (Phomi) microscopes.

This cover ring contains a small screw that secures the ring in place so that it fits tightly around the joint between the two microscope components.

The accompanying video, using a Zeiss Photomicroscope II as an example, shows exactly where this cover ring is located on the microscope and how it is installed and removed.

On the secondary market, many Zeiss Phomi (Photomicroscope) and Zeiss Universal microscopes are missing this cover ring, which may allow dust to enter the optical system. Why is this cover ring often missing?
