This is description of this part:
Professional Carl Zeiss Jena KP560 interference filter, 32 mm in diameter, intended for fluorescence excitation.
Basic parameters of this filter:
Manufacturer: Carl Zeiss Jena
Model: KP560
Type: interference excitation filter for fluorescence
Diameter: 32 mm
Mirror coating: yes
Filters 32 mm in diameter can be used in most microscopes from many manufacturers. In Carl Zeiss Jena microscopes they can be used, among others, in the following fluorescence microscopes:
- Carl Zeiss Jena Jenamed Fluorescence (Fluoreszenz)
- Carl Zeiss Jena Jenalumar
- Carl Zeiss Jena Fluoval
- Carl Zeiss Jena Laboval Fluorescence
Note - the mirrored surface gives away that this is an interference filter. With filters of this kind the angle to the incoming light is not indifferent and affects their parameters.
The coating on interference filters is sensitive to mechanical damage, for example scratches from improper storage or cleaning. The second enemy is time - several decades of work right next to the HBO lamp can cloud it or make it delaminate, which shows as patches or rainbow islands that do not disappear when you rotate it. In that case the best solution is to replace the filter with one like the one I offer here.
What is this part needed for?
- if you know the KP560 specification and this is exactly what you need (for example for a filter turret)
- if your microscope has a Carl Zeiss Jena KP560 interference filter, but it is damaged or in very poor condition
- if you want to use this filter in your own DIY project or in a microscope from another manufacturer (for example Leica, Nikon, Leitz Wetzlar or Zeiss West Germany)
