This is description of this part:
Mount for illuminator (lamp) of EPI illumination for Carl Zeiss Jena Amplival microscope. This mount is used to deflect the light beam by 90 degrees vertically upwards.
The Carl Zeiss Jena Amplival microscope has a modular design and by replacing individual elements it can be converted into other versions based on this platform, e.g. Amplival-Pol, Epival or Vertival.
After replacing the arm from a transmitted light version to one designed for reflected light, it is also necessary to supply light into the arm. This adapter is used for that purpose.
What is this part needed for?
- if you have an EPI microscope in which this element is missing or is in very poor condition
- if you have an Amplival microscope and want to expand it with the capability of reflected light operation
