This is description of this part:
Iris diaphragm (iris aperture diaphragm) for the microscope condenser used in Carl Zeiss Jena Jenamed Histology microscopes. This is an aperture diaphragm.
This diaphragm DOES NOT FIT the following Carl Zeiss Jena microscopes:
- Jenamed 2
- Jenamed Variant
- Jenamed Cytology
- Jenamed Hematology
- Jenamed Fluorescence
Mechanically, this diaphragm is mounted below the condenser. The complete diaphragm module is attached to the microscope stand with two screws. It is not mechanically connected to the condenser - these are separate components. The lever (pin) used to open and close the diaphragm extends through a dedicated opening at the front of the microscope, allowing adjustment of the diaphragm opening. This opening is located in the cover of the filter wheel - illustrating further relationships between successive elements of the light path.
Carl Zeiss Jena Jenamed microscopes do not have a field diaphragm.
Replacement of the aperture diaphragm module in a Carl Zeiss Jena Jenamed Histology microscope may be necessary:
- when one or more iris diaphragm blades become damaged (bent or broken)
- when the lever used to open and close the diaphragm breaks off
- when the teeth of the gear wheel installed in this module become damaged
Metal cast or injection-moulded microscope parts manufactured by Carl Zeiss Jena carry their own part numbers. This part bears number 2714 (full marking: Si10 CZ 2714). The iris diaphragm module used in the other Carl Zeiss Jena Jenamed microscope models bears part number Si10 CZ 2713.
What is this part needed for?
- as a repair part in the form of replacing the complete part if it or one of its elements is damaged or of very poor quality
- several examples of applications are given in the description
- if you want to use such a module with iris diaphragm for your own DIY projects.
