This is a component that is originally mounted on the top of the stand of the Carl Zeiss Jena Jenamed microscope - and it is on this element that the binocular head is installed. It enables ergonomic work with the microscope by tilting the observation head at an angle.
Note - this is not a tube with a photo port (that is, it is not a so-called "trino"). It is a tube intended for mounting a binocular head and it does not have a third optical light path.
