This is description of this part:
Iris diaphragm for the microscope condenser of Carl Zeiss Jena Jenamed microscopes. This is an aperture diaphragm.
This particular example shown and offered here was removed from a Carl Zeiss Jena Jenamed Cytology microscope. It will most likely also fit other models from the Jenamed series (e.g. Jenamed Variant, Jenamed Fluorescence, Jenamed-2, Jenamed Hematology).
It does not fit the Jenamed Histology model because the Carl Zeiss Jena Jenamed Histology microscope features a different type of condenser (a 'flip-out' type) by default. For this reason, the iris diaphragm is located slightly lower than in other models and is different.
To make sure whether this iris diaphragm will fit a specific Carl Zeiss Jena microscope from the Jenamed series, it is best to carefully check all dimensions based on the gallery photos or ask a question on a professional forum, e.g. https://www.mikroskopie-forum.de/
Mechanically, this diaphragm is mounted underneath the condenser. The entire diaphragm module is attached to the microscope body with four screws. It is not mechanically connected to the condenser - these are separate elements. The lever pin used to open / close the diaphragm protrudes through a special opening at the front of the microscope, making it possible to adjust the diaphragm opening. This opening is located in the cover of the filter wheel - here one can see further relationships between the individual elements of the light path.
Carl Zeiss Jena Jenamed microscopes do not have a field diaphragm.
Replacement of the aperture diaphragm module in a Carl Zeiss Jena Jenamed microscope may be necessary:
- when some of the iris diaphragm blades become damaged (bent or broken)
- when the lever used to open / close the diaphragm breaks off
- when the teeth of the gear wheel mounted in this module become damaged
Metal cast or injection-moulded microscope parts made by Carl Zeiss Jena have their own numbers. This part carries the number 2713 (full marking: Si10 CZ 2713).
