This is description of this part:
This element is a cover cap that is slid onto the illuminator collector located in the microscope base (stand foot). It performs two functions:
- it serves as a holder into which a round filter with a diameter of 32 mm can be inserted
- the hinged, tilting cover allows the light output to be completely blocked
This slide-in element is used in the following microscopes:
- Carl Zeiss Jena Jenaval
- Carl Zeiss Jena Jenalumar
- Carl Zeiss Jena Jenavert
Cast or injection-molded metal parts of Carl Zeiss Jena carry their own numbers. This microscope element bears the numbers 2645 (full designation: Si10 2645) and 2683 (full designation: Si10 CZ 2683).
By default, in the basic versions of the CZJ Jenaval microscope, a simpler version of this element is installed - only a slide with a filter holder, without a light blocking cover.
In models with EPI illumination (de: Auflicht), such as Carl Zeiss Jena Jenavert and Carl Zeiss Jena Jenalumar, the transmitted light illuminator cover allows the transmitted light to be completely shut off when working exclusively with EPI illumination.
In the last photo in the gallery, the exact location of this element in the microscope is indicated with an arrow. This allows you to identify it precisely.
