This is description of this part:
Eyepiece tube with a 30 mm diameter for the eyepiece mount of a Carl Zeiss Jena microscope head.
This is a tube with an assembled diopter adjustment ring that allows correction of vision in one eye and proper adjustment of image focus.
Basic parameters:
- Type: tube with diopter correction ring
- Diameter of supported eyepieces: 30 mm
- Color: white
Fits 30 mm heads used, among others, in the following Carl Zeiss Jena microscopes:
- Carl Zeiss Jena Jenamed
- Carl Zeiss Jena Jenalab
- Carl Zeiss Jena Jenaval
- Carl Zeiss Jena Jenatech
- Carl Zeiss Jena Jenalumar
- Carl Zeiss Jena Jenavert
Some Carl Zeiss Jena Jenalab and Jenamed microscopes (for example the Jenamed Fluorescence) were factory-equipped with binocular heads accepting 23.2 mm eyepieces. In that case this end cap is **not** compatible with that binocular head. By "that" I specifically mean the binocular head, as this is a component of the head rather than of the microscope itself.
Interestingly, 30 mm wide-field binocular heads are also occasionally fitted to older microscopes from the Mikroval series (for example Ergaval and Amplival). When combined with GF-Planachromat or GF-Planapochromat objectives (the latter also used on the Docuval), this provides arguably the best optical combination available for Carl Zeiss Jena microscopes with a 160 mm tube length.
What is this part needed for?
- very often this tube is dented and an eyepiece cannot be inserted
- very often the diopter adjustment ring becomes damaged and does not function
- if you want diopter adjustment on both eyepiece tubes and replace the simple tube with one equipped with an adjustment ring
- if you need a tube with precise worm adjustment for your own DIY purposes
