This is description of this part:
Upper lens for low-power objectives for the Carl Zeiss Jena pancratic condenser.
The Carl Zeiss Jena pancratic condenser is a triple condenser with the following lenses:
- N.A. 0.3 for low-power objectives (this is the lens offered here)
- N.A. up to 1.4 (variable aperture) for high resolution and magnification
- oil dark field lens (cardioid condenser)
This condenser is used in Carl Zeiss Jena microscopes:
- Nf
- Nu / Nu2
- Lumipan
- Amplival (gray condenser)
but can also be mounted in the following microscopes:
- Jenaval
- Jenalumar
- Lu (I'm not sure)
- Ng
- Ergaval
- Docuval
- Polmi A
The companies IOR Bucuresti and Lomo made their own versions of pancratic condensers - I don't know if this lens is compatible with them.
What is this part needed for?
- if the lens is missing from the condenser
- if the lens is damaged or in very poor condition
- if you want to mount it to a completely different DIY condenser
