This is description of this part:
Here I'm offering the original magnification knob, with three screws securing it to the microscope body and an aluminum cap with the magnifications printed on it.
The Carl Zeiss Jena Technival stereomicroscope has two such knobs ? one on each side of the body. They are identical, and there's no difference between left and right.
The aluminum cap must be removed to attach the knob. After that, it must be glued back on.
What is this part needed for?
- as a repair part to be replaced, as this knob often crumbles, breaks or even melts when burned with a cigarette
