This is description of this part:
Eyepiece tube (the so-called barrel) for mounting eyepieces of 23.2 mm diameter in Leitz Wetzlar microscope heads.
This tube was removed from the Leitz Wetzlar binocular head P/N 512582 - but tubes with exactly the same dimensions and the same mounting method are also used in other models of binocular and trinocular heads.
Two such tubes are fitted in binocular and trinocular heads - they are universal, there is no difference between the right and the left one.
The last photos in the gallery show how these tubes are screwed to the front plate of the head. The mounting screws are included with the tube offered here.
This component is often dented, and then the eyepiece can no longer be inserted. Slight deformations can easily be bent back, or the tube can be reamed out from the inside - with more serious deformations this is unfortunately not so easy. In that case, instead of replacing the whole head, it is enough to replace the eyepiece tube alone.
What is this part needed for?
- as a service part to replace a damaged tube in a head, because this tube is very often dented and the eyepiece can no longer be inserted
