This is description of this part:
This mechanism is used to mount any type of head (mono, bino, trino, photo tube etc.) to the microscope body.
Important - this is the oldest version of the holder, in which all components are made of metal. In later years, Leitz produced microscopes of the SM series with plastic elements in the head holding mechanism.
It is a complex mechanism with a spring, locking pawls and moving parts. A very interesting design.
Most likely compatible with many variants of the "SM" model. Attention - the SM-Pol model has a different head holder.
What is this part needed for?
- if you own a Leitz SM microscope in which the head holder contains plastic elements and you want to replace it with a metal version
- if your head holder is damaged, for example if a spring has broken, plastic elements have snapped or a knob has been bent
- if you need a Leitz Wetzlar head holder for your own DIY purposes
