This is description of this part:
Microscope head holder and analyzer with polarizing filter for the Leitz Wetzlar SM-Pol polarizing microscope.
Mechanically, this microscope component is located at the end of the microscope arm and performs several functions:
- a microscope head is mounted on its top side (monocular, binocular or trinocular photographic head)
- inside there is a slide containing a polarizing analyzer that can be moved out of the optical path using a switch
- a polarizing objective nosepiece is mounted to the underside of this component
In the last photo, an arrow indicates which component is being offered and where it is located in the microscope, making it possible to identify this part unambiguously. In addition, the attached video shows the mechanism responsible for moving the polarization analyzer.
