This is description of this part:
An XY cross stage is used for precise manipulation of a slide with a specimen on the microscope stage.
The basic versions of the Lomo Biolam and MBI-1 microscopes have simple microscope stages with grips for holding the specimen. Therefore, at magnifications above 400x, manually manipulating the slide with the specimen becomes very difficult. XY cross stages are used for this purpose, for example, to move the specimen very precisely at 900x magnification with oil immersion.
This is not a cheap plastic cross stage - it is a well-made Lomo design, very popular on the used microscope market.
NOTE - if the mounting pin spacing matches, this cross stage can be mounted on stages from virtually any manufacturer.
What is this part needed for?
- if you have a microscope with a standard stage and you need to precisely manipulate the slide with the preparation and use high magnifications
