The last photo shows which component I'm referring to. It's the mirror holder?a screw with an external thread and an internal hole into which the mirror pin is inserted. Of course, an electric illuminator is often inserted in this location instead of a mirror.
What is this part needed for?
- Sometimes this element is missing in used microscopes.
- Sometimes the previous owner drilled out this mount to mount a mirror with a wider pin.
- Sometimes the mirror pin broke off and remained inside the mounting screw.
- You might also encounter a situation where the mounting screw is welded inside.
