This is description of this part:
This is the complete bottom part of the binocular head of the Lomo MBC-9 stereo microscope.
Note - "MBC" is written in Cyrillic, therefore the model designation in the Latin alphabet is MBS-9.
The microscope head of a stereo microscope consists of (from top to bottom):
- eyepieces
- they are inserted into eyepiece tubes (so-called tubes)
- these tubes are screwed into threaded holders
- prism cages (holders, frames) with prisms inside
- these prism cages are mounted to the bottom part of the head
- prism covers, also screwed to the bottom part - one of the larger housing components of the head
The bottom part of the head, i.e. the component offered here, consists of:
- a dovetail mounting connection used to attach the head to the microscope stand
- lenses
- a mechanism for interpupillary distance adjustment
What is this part needed for?
- as a service part for replacement of the entire component
- most often required when the lenses in your head are damaged or in very poor condition (cracked, chipped, heavily scratched, damaged by fungus)
- also useful if the mounting connection (dovetail) is damaged
- when the interpupillary distance adjustment mechanism requires replacement
