This is description of this part:
Replacement part for repairing an HBO / Hg 100W fluorescence illuminator used with Nikon Optiphot microscopes and other microscope models using this type of fluorescence illuminator housing.
This is the finned radiator mounted on the top of the fluorescence illuminator housing.
This particular finned radiator was originally installed in a fluorescence illuminator fitted to a Nikon Optiphot microscope. Hg 100W / HBO 100W fluorescence illuminators, as well as similar versions with the same mechanical design using the same passive finned radiator, were used in, among others, the following microscopes:
- Nikon Optiphot
- Nikon Labophot
- Nikon Microphot
Therefore, this cooling component is also compatible with these microscopes. Above all, it is a replacement part for repairing the fluorescence illuminator rather than a specific microscope.
The relatively fragile fins of this radiator are susceptible to mechanical damage (please note the small chipped area clearly shown in the video). In a fluorescence illuminator using a 100 W high-pressure mercury burner, efficient passive cooling is extremely important.
Important: Nikon EPI fluorescence illuminators from that period were manufactured with several different lamp house designs. They are most commonly referred to simply as:
- Nikon Hg 100W
- Nikon HBO 100W
- Nikon HBO 100W HG Lamp House
- often the model is Nikon LH-M100CB-1
For verification, the photo gallery includes the exact dimensions of this component. The last photograph also shows the complete fluorescence illuminator from which this finned radiator was removed, making it possible to confirm compatibility with complete confidence.
What is this part needed for?
- as a service part (repair component) if you own a microscope equipped with this illuminator and this part has been damaged
