This is description of this part:
Tube for mounting a photo eyepiece in the trinocular port of the Nikon SMZ-10 stereo microscope.
The Nikon SMZ-10 stereo microscope in the trinocular version has a modular photo output. Inside the fixed part of the trinocular, which is integrated with the head housing, sits a tube into which a photo eyepiece can be inserted. The manufacturer calls this element a "photographic lens holder".
Since the inner diameter of this tube is 23.2 mm, it takes the Nikon CF PL2.5X, Nikon PLI 5 and other photo eyepieces with this standard mounting diameter.
Inside this tube there is a helicoid mechanism for adjusting parfocality, so the sharpness of the image on the sensor of a camera can be tuned precisely.
The last three photos in the gallery have an arrow marking which element this is and where exactly it sits in the head of the stereo microscope. This allows unambiguous identification.
What is this part needed for?
- if this element is missing or damaged in the trinocular port of your Nikon SMZ-10 stereo microscope
- if you need a precise helicoid mechanism for your own DIY project
