Olympus AX-RFS is a complete iris diaphragm module acting as a field diaphragm for the fluorescence EPI illuminator in Olympus Provis AX70 / AX80 microscopes.

The modular construction of Olympus AX microscopes allows easy removal and installation of entire microscope elements, but this is often the reason why microscopes appearing on the secondary market are missing some modules.
This is a relatively complex module containing, apart from the diaphragm itself, knobs, control wheels, rods and mechanical gear transmissions. With improper handling or maintenance - and especially with lack of maintenance - this module may become damaged. The most common failures are:
- bending or breaking of the diaphragm blades
- unscrewing and loss of the diaphragm centering screws
- breaking of the knob used to open / close the diaphragm
- breaking of parts of the rotary motion transmission mechanism
