This is description of this part:
Inclining prism for the Olympus BH2-BI30 binocular head, most often fitted to Olympus BH-2 microscopes
In the Olympus BH2-BI30 binocular head this prism is attached from the inside to the dovetail that holds the head on the microscope stand.
Important: this is the prism only - without the cast metal holder the prism is supposed to be glued into.
The irreplaceable Carl Hunsinger has written an excellent service manual for this microscope head: https://www.alanwood.net/downloads/olympus-bh2-bi30-binocular-head-repair.pdf.
This prism is not a spare part for the microscope itself. It is a repair part for the Olympus BH2-BI30 microscope head - and that head can sit on various microscopes, even on instruments from manufacturers other than Olympus. The most important microscopes this head is most often used with are listed in the "compatibility" section, but this is by no means a complete list.
What is this part needed for?
- this prism serves as a replacement part if the prism in your Olympus BH2-BI30 binocular head is damaged or of very poor quality
