This is description of this part:
IR cut-off filter blocking infrared light, for microscopes and microscope cameras.
This is a square infrared cut-off filter (IR-cut) glued onto an aluminium profile with a C-mount thread. The filter measures approx. 15x15 mm (+/- 1 mm).
This threaded aluminium profile is a part of the housing of the Imaging Source DFK41AU02 USB microscope camera.
Since this is a typical mass-produced item from a Chinese factory, it is quite possible that, once unglued from the housing, this filter will fit many other cameras as well.
In the microscope camera this filter sits inside a short tube with a C-mount thread and, apart from blocking infrared light, it also protects the sensor against dirt. The glass cracks very often, so it has to be replaced. In addition, users sometimes carry out DIY modifications and remove the IR-cut filters from their cameras. The glass is frequently damaged during that operation. In such a case this very filter, which I offer here, can help to bring the camera back to its original condition.
Once unglued, the filter can be used for microscopes, for macro photography in the broad sense, for photomicrography or for your own DIY projects.
