This is description of this part:
Protective glass mounted at the junction between the illuminator and the base of the Reichert Austria Zetopan microscope.
The Reichert Zetopan microscope uses an external light source - an illuminator attached at the rear of the microscope base. On the base side, the connection point is protected by a protective glass held in a sheet-metal carrier which is screwed to the microscope base. With the illuminator removed (for transport, for example), the protective glass can easily be damaged.
This is exactly the part offered here: the protective glass mounted in its shaped sheet-metal carrier.
- the glass is colourless
- it is not a diffusing (ground glass) filter
- it is not a heat-absorbing glass for the radiation emitted by the light source
- it is not a collimating lens, but a plane-parallel plate with no optical power
The last photo in the gallery has an arrow pointing to the exact part and showing where it sits in the microscope base. This allows the part to be identified beyond doubt.
What is this part needed for?
- this is a service element, intended for repair by replacing the entire element
