This is description of this part:
Top part of the housing (cover) of the microscope trinocular head P/N 45 21 43 for Carl Zeiss Axioplan 2 microscopes.
Since this is a brittle casting, the housing can crumble, crack or break. The remedy for such a problem is then the replacement of the whole head or of this housing part only.
Inside the housing there is the eyepiece shutter together with the knob for sliding it.
This is the housing of the head, not the housing of the microscope. The 452143 head itself fits directly on the Carl Zeiss Axioplan 2, Axioplan 2 imaging and Axiophot 2 microscopes, and with the 452969 adapter it is also used on Axioskop 2 stands. This part therefore fits every 452143 head, regardless of which microscope that head is working on.
What is this part needed for?
- as a service part in the form of replacing the whole element, when the housing in your head is in very bad condition or has cracked, for example
- as a service part, if the eyepiece shutter or a part of it, e.g. the knob, has been damaged in your head
