This is a prism (mirror) for the right (R) eyepiece in the binocular head of the Zeiss microscope.
This type of head is used in Zeiss Axioskop 20 microscopes (this head has the catalog number 45 29 07 - alternative notation: 452907) as well as in inverted microscopes Zeiss Axiovert 100. It is very likely that the same head was also installed in other microscope models, e.g. Zeiss Axioskop 50 and others.
What is this part needed for?
- if your head is delaminating, chipped, cracked, scratched, or discolored on the prism
- if the mirror surface is oxidized
- if fungus (mold) has destroyed the anti-reflective surface
