This is description of this part:
The mounting ring for attaching the microscope head to the stand of the Carl Zeiss ICM 405 / IM 35 inverted microscope.
It is a ring-shaped female mounting interface into which the microscope head is inserted and secured. It makes no difference whether a binocular or trinocular microscope head is mounted in this fitting.
- the inner diameter of this microscope head mount is 44 mm
- this mounting ring is attached to the microscope stand with three screws
- the ring has two small screws that both center and secure the microscope head, as they engage with the dovetail groove of the microscope head
- thanks to these screws, microscope heads with a dovetail diameter from 42.5 mm to 44 mm can be mounted in the ring
- the main spring-loaded clamping screw
This head mount was removed from a Carl Zeiss ICM 405 microscope, but it is also suitable for the IM 35 model.
The photos show the dimensions and exact appearance of this microscope component from multiple angles. Additionally, the last photo clearly shows where this head mount is located in the microscope.
What is this part needed for?
- if your microscope is missing the mount that secures the microscope head
- if you have a microscope with this type of microscope head mounting ring, but it is damaged or in very poor condition, for example if the centering screws or the main head clamping screw are damaged
- if you want to carry out a DIY modification on another microscope and connect a Zeiss microscope head, but first need a mounting ring for Zeiss microscope heads (Oberkochen, West Germany)
