This Zeiss Phomi II microscope body includes:
- the coarse and fine focus block together with the focusing knobs
- the base (also called the foot or base) with the rear illuminator port, field diaphragm (iris diaphragm), and built-in filters
- the microscope arm with the intermediate tube mount (dovetail clamp), photographic film compartment, and all knobs and switches
When can a complete microscope body be useful?
- if you are assembling a microscope yourself and selecting every component so that the final configuration is exactly the way you want it
- if you have an older model (for example, a Zeiss Universal without EPI reflected-light capability) – replacing the stand effectively upgrades the microscope, while the remaining components can be transferred because they are compatible between these models
