This is description of this part:
Intermediate tube with trino / photo output, Optovar magnification changer, objective revolver dovetail mount and Bertrand lens for Zeiss Universal and Photomicroscope (Phomi) microscopes.
This is an intermediate tube forming the main optical module of the microscope. It is mounted onto the microscope arm, and the binocular head is then attached to this intermediate tube. The module integrates the following components:
- a third optical path (photo output), which is why this module is sometimes referred to as a trinocular tube
- an Optovar magnification changer with a Bertrand lens
- a dovetail mount for the objective revolver
- a large insert for a round filter and slots for additional inserts
This intermediate tube is compatible with the following microscopes:
- Zeiss Universal (Carl Zeiss Standard Universal)
- Zeiss Photomicroscope (Zeiss Phomi)
The Optovar magnification changer integrated into this intermediate tube features a rotating turret with the following positions:
- PH (Bertrand lens)
- 1.25×
- 1.6×
- 2×
The complexity of this design makes the module susceptible to damage of individual internal components, especially the optical elements (prisms and lenses).
