Carl Zeiss Jena Citoval-2 / Technival-2 stereo microscope halogen illuminator lamp with holder

The name of this microscope part.

Carl Zeiss Jena Citoval-2 / Technival-2 stereo microscope halogen illuminator lamp with holder

Description of this part for the microscope.

Halogen illuminator with holder for Carl Zeiss Jena Technival-2 and Citoval-2 stereo microscopes.

Basic parameters:
Illuminator type: reflected light (top ...

illuminator)
Light source: 6V 25W halogen bulb, standard Narva HLWS5-A

This is a complete illuminator consisting of the following components:
- lamp housing with lenses for collimating the light beam
- light source with halogen bulb
- mounting holder for the Citoval-2 / Technival-2 microscope
In the user manual (https://www.mikroskop-online.de/Mikroskop%20BDA/30-725-1%20%20TECHNIVAL%202%20%20CITOVAL%202.pdf) these components are marked as items 7 and 8 on page 4.

Mechanically, this illuminator is mounted on an arm (illuminator holder), which can be clearly seen in the video attached to this description. This holder is attached to a special clamp located on the main objective.
The main objective of the Carl Zeiss Jena Citoval-2 / Technival-2 microscopes has two such clamps, allowing two holders and therefore two illuminators to be mounted. This allows the observed object to be illuminated from both sides. This is exactly why many users look for an additional illuminator.

This illuminator requires a transformer. It uses a 6V low-voltage halogen bulb and therefore cannot be connected directly to a mains power outlet.

The Carl Zeiss Jena Technival and Citoval microscopes (older version without the number "2") are grey, while the Technival-2 and Citoval-2 models are white. This illuminator is white and is therefore intended for the newer Carl Zeiss Jena Citoval-2 and Technival-2 stereo microscopes.
