I have very little technical information about this objective; I don't even know what the red letter "E" stands for. If you have any information that would help me add to the description, please E-mail me.
In 1950, Hensoldt DIAMI microscopes with a star-shaped nosepiece were already using objectives with a 45 mm focal length, but they still looked like the shorter, older versions. This is already a newer version of the objective, differing among other things in that it does not have the numerical aperture value engraved on it.
In a 1950 brochure, the manufacturer states that optional equipment for reflected-light EPI work was available for the Hensoldt DIAMI microscope. Therefore, it is possible that the red letter “E” on the objective indicates an EPI objective. However, this possibility is contradicted by the fact that the 1950 model, which was designed only for transmitted-light work, had a 100x objective that also had the letter “E” engraved on it.
