This is description of this part:

Left-hand XY mechanical stage attachment for Will Wetzlar microscopes and for microscopes of other makes with stages 10 to 12 mm thick. It is used for precise movement of the slide with the specimen on the microscope stage.

The simpler Will Wetzlar microscopes of the V100 and V200 series were sold with a square stage that had no integrated mechanical stage mechanism for precise movement of the specimen. Such a mechanism is a separate (and optional) part, screwed to the side of the stage - and it is exactly this accessory that is offered here.

Basic information:
Item: mechanical stage attachment for a microscope stage
Manufacturer: Will Wetzlar
Fits: microscopes of any make with a stage from 10 mm to 12 mm thick
Mounting: screwed to the side of the stage, on the left, with two screws

Once this mechanism is fitted, the coaxial knobs used to move the specimen are located on the handle on the left side of the stage.

Important note on compatibility:

Originally, attachments of this kind were used in the Will Wetzlar microscopes of the V100 and V200 series (that is, in the VM-V1xx, VB-V1xx, VM-V2xx and VB-V2xx models). I have personally fitted it to the following models as well:
- Will Wetzlar V255, V150
- Carl Zeiss Jena Eduval
- Carl Zeiss Jena Laboval-2
- Motic SFC100
- Olympus CH
- Olympus CH2

This XY mechanism also fits microscopes of other makes, provided the thickness of the stage is between 10 and 12 mm.

It is also worth remembering that microscopes made by Will Wetzlar were sold under the following names as well:
- Hund Wetzlar
- Dr. G. Schuchardt Göttingen
- Opt. Inst. G.K.E. Schröder
Microscopes carrying any of these names should therefore also be taken into account when considering the compatibility of this mechanical stage attachment.

The last photograph in the gallery shows a Will Wetzlar microscope of the V100 series, with an arrow indicating which part is meant and where it sits on the microscope. In addition, the video in the video gallery shows this attachment from various angles, together with the movement of its moving parts.

At magnifications above 400x, moving the slide with the specimen by hand becomes very difficult. This is precisely why mechanical stage attachments are used: to move the specimen very precisely at, for example, 600x or at 1000x with oil immersion.
