Special specimen cassette with microscope slide holder for Carl Zeiss Jena Jenamed series microscopes.
This cassette serves as a specimen holder with provision for microscope slides. It allows quick insertion and replacement of slides without the use of an XY mechanical stage.
Several different specimen holding systems are found in Carl Zeiss Jena microscopes. The slide cassette system is one of them and represents an alternative to traditional designs using a mechanical stage and slide-retaining clips.
Various names are commonly used for this specimen holder, including:

This is not a complete stage-mounted system and therefore it is not a "slide cassette system". It is only the cassette itself (slide cassette), which is a replaceable wear item installed into the appropriate carrier assembly.
