The best image quality and full performance of this objective are achieved when using a Carl Zeiss Jena microscope head supporting 30 mm eyepieces and eyepieces marked "GF", meaning - similarly to the objectives - wide field eyepieces.
An interesting fact is that I very often see this objective (as well as other Carl Zeiss Jena objectives with M25 thread) mounted in Leica microscopes (for example Leica DMLB or Leica DMLS). Carl Zeiss Jena objectives are slightly shorter than Leica ones, so users apply extension adapters in such cases.
