This lens provides an excellent, wide image, and because it doesn't require a cover glass, it's often used for super-macro photography and stacking.
Of course, the "P" designation doesn't mean it's designed "solely" for polarizing. It can be used in any microscope for both polarization, brightfield, transmitted light and reflected EPI.
