Older Steindorff Berlin microscope models had a phase contrast condenser consisting of a standard brightfield condenser with a swing-out set of annular stops mounted below it (see here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/136833493390496/posts/1722963914777438/). It is not certain that this objective will match that condenser, because the annular stop there is marked 45x, while the objective offered here is 40x.
Only the Steindorff Berlin turret condenser (see here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/136833493390496/posts/1746808269059669/) has a 40x annular stop, and this objective is compatible with it.
I am not aware of Steindorff Berlin "Ph" objectives working with phase contrast condensers from other manufacturers. Please note: "not aware" does not mean they do not fit - but it is safer to assume they do not. In other words, you should assume that this objective will form a working set only with a Steindorff Berlin phase contrast condenser.
What is this part needed for?
- if you own a Steindorff Berlin microscope with a matching phase contrast condenser and this is exactly the objective missing from your set
- if you already have such an objective in your microscope, but it is in very poor condition or damaged
- if you want to keep such an objective as a spare
