This is description of this part:
Achromatic microscope objective by Will Wetzlar, 4x magnification, 45 mm parfocal distance.
Manufacturer: Will Wetzlar
Magnification: 4x
Model: 4/0.10 160/-
Numerical aperture N.A.: 0.10
Cover glass: not required
Thread: RMS
Tube length: 160 mm
Parfocal distance: 45 mm (so-called long objective)
Immersion: no (dry objective)
This objective can be used:
- on biological transmitted light microscopes
- on inverted microscopes
- on microscopes with a reflected light illuminator
- for macro photography, connected directly to a camera
This is the so-called black series of objectives, named after the black plastic objective barrel. They were used mainly in the Will Wetzlar microscopes of the V300 series, for example in the Wilozyt V365 model. This was the period when manufacturers were experimenting with a new look for microscope parts, and exactly the same black series appeared, for example, in the Leitz Wetzlar HM-LUX-3 microscopes.
It is worth noting that the Will Wetzlar microscopes of the V100 and V200 series were usually fitted with objectives of 37 mm parfocal distance - but newer objectives with a parfocal distance of 45 mm, such as those of the black series, can be used in them without any problems whatsoever.
The companies Eschenbach, Kremp Wetzlar, CBS Beck Kassel, Kosmos Stuttgart and Hund Wetzlar also used objectives made by Will Wetzlar, although these often carried their own company name. It can therefore be said with a high degree of confidence that this objective will also fit the microscopes of those companies.
This objective fits practically any microscope of any make, provided it has an RMS thread and accepts objectives with TL=160 mm and parfocal distances of 33 / 37 and 45 mm. A few examples of such microscopes are listed in the "kompatybilność" section, but that list is not exhaustive.
What is this part needed for?
- if you have a Will Wetzlar microscope without a 4x / 5x objective and want to complete it with original parts
- if you are looking for a good-quality 4x objective for a microscope from another manufacturer
- if you already have such an objective, but it is of very poor quality and you want to replace it with a working one
- if you want to keep such objective in reserve
