This is description of this part:
Complete plastic housing of the Zeiss CPL W 10x/18 microscope eyepiece
Most important: this is not a complete microscope eyepiece. This is a service part - the body only, without optics.
What is included: three parts - the lower sleeve that goes into the eyepiece tube of the head, the retaining ring that holds the lenses inside the housing, and the upper sleeve with the engraving
Material: all parts of the housing are made of plastic - this is unusual, because in eyepieces of this class the bodies are normally metal
Marking on the body: ZEISS West Germany CPL W 10x/18, number 464022-9901
Mounting diameter: 23.2mm - a standard eyepiece tube
This housing is not a replacement part for the microscope. It is a part for repairing a microscope eyepiece - and that eyepiece can be used in various microscopes, even from manufacturers other than Carl Zeiss. A few microscopes this eyepiece can be used with are listed in the "compatibility" section, but this is definitely not a complete list. It is safe to assume that the Zeiss CPL W 10x/18 eyepiece can be used with any microscope from any manufacturer whose head has a 23.2 mm eyepiece tube diameter.
The plastic this eyepiece housing is made of can be damaged in various ways. It often cracks, gets scratched, or deforms and partly melts from heat - the proximity of a bulb, a lamp or a soldering iron is enough, and very often the culprit is simply the cigarette held in the same hand that turns the focus knobs. In that case - especially when the optics inside are still intact - you can simply replace the housing with the one offered here.

What is this part needed for?
- if the body of the Carl Zeiss CPL W 10x/18 eyepiece is cracked, broken out or chipped, but the lenses are intact
- if the housing has deformed from heat or is scorched, and the eyepiece no longer sits straight in the tube or has started to jam in it
- if the plastic sleeve is scratched and scuffed, often with damaged markings
- if you have various lenses and want to build your own DIY eyepiece, for example a projection photo eyepiece, and only need a complete housing
