An eyepiece magnification of 20x should rather be treated as a zoom without revealing additional details (the resolution is not increased). This is important, for example, in heads with built-in magnification (e.g. Carl Zeiss Jena heads with built-in magnification of 1.5x or 1.6x) - when working with a 100x oil immersion objective, we theoretically obtain 1001.520 = 3000x, while physics does not allow the human eye to magnify visible light beyond approximately 1250x - therefore this is a so-called "empty magnification".
