Description
Nikon SMZ-10 stereo microscope right erecting prismRight erecting prism from the head of the Nikon SMZ-10 stereo microscope.
In the Nikon SMZ-10 stereo microscope each of the two optical paths (one per eye) consists of:
- the zoom lens group
- the secondary objective
- the inclining prism
- the erecting prism
- the eyepiece
Offered here is the erecting prism for the right optical path. The prism sits in its matching cradle (holder) made of cast metal.
The last two photos in the gallery are drawings from the service manual of the Nikon SMZ-10 microscope, and an arrow on them marks which element this is and where it sits in the head of the stereo microscope.
Replacing the erecting prism in the stereo head of the Nikon SMZ-10 microscope can help when:
- the prism has mechanical damage, e.g. scratches, cracks, chips or flaking
- the prism shows delamination, that is discoloration at the cemented joint between the prism blocks
- the metal cradle holding the prism is broken
