Description
Optical N-117M / Brunel microscope base with LED illumination | Nexcope and Delta Optical Genetic Pro compatibleMicroscope base with LED illumination for microscopes based on the N-117M / DN-117M models
The N-117M / DN-117M is a fairly good laboratory microscope manufactured at the Chinese NYO factory and sold worldwide under various names. These microscopes are known and sold, among others, as:
- Delta Optical Genetic Pro (mainly in Poland)
- AmScope B340 / T340 (mainly in the USA and the rest of the world through Amazon)
- Labtron LEM-C10 / C11 / C12 (mainly in the United Kingdom)
- Sigeta MB-207 (mainly in Ukraine)
- Boeco Germany BM-117 (mainly in Germany)
- BestScope BS-2020 (mainly in the USA, shipped worldwide)
- Brunel N117M (mainly in the United Kingdom)
- Apex N-117M (mainly in the United Kingdom)
- Surgifield SM-DN-117M (mainly in Nigeria and West Africa)
- Eurotech DN-117M (mainly in Peru)
- Biocare DN-117M (mainly in Peru)
- Viresa N-117M (mainly in Mexico)
- Eurolab DN-117M
- Nexcope N-117M
- Novel N-117M
This is certainly not a complete list of names – many sellers give the microscopes they sell their own names without a model number, as is the case with Delta Optical in Poland.
This microscope base contains:
- a socket for connecting the power cord
- an ON / OFF switch
- a knob for adjusting the light intensity (brighter-darker)
- the necessary internal electronics
- an LED light source
- IMPORTANT – as can be seen in the photos, there is no light collector in the base
The N-117M model has a binocular or trinocular microscope head, while the DN-117M model has a built-in digital USB camera (hence the “D” at the beginning of the name, from “Digital”) – however, the base is shared and fits both of these models.
Some older versions of microscopes based on the N-117M design have halogen illumination (rather than LED, as in the base presented here) – but the shape and the way the base is attached to the microscope arm are the same. A base with halogen illumination and a base with LED illumination can therefore be used interchangeably as a way of upgrading the microscope.
When might it be necessary to replace the microscope base?
- if the microscope base is of very poor quality (it may sometimes have been broken during transport)
- if you want to replace a base with halogen illumination with one with LED illumination
- if something inside the existing base has been damaged: the electronics, switch, or brightness adjustment knob
