Head mounting screw for attaching a microscope head (e.g. a binocular or trinocular microscope head) to the microscope stand.

This screw fits many microscopes based on the N-117M / DN-117M models.

The N-117M / DN-117M is a reasonably good laboratory microscope manufactured in a Chinese NYO factory and sold worldwide under various names. These microscopes are known and sold, among others, as:

The N-117M version has a binocular or trinocular microscope head, while the DN-117M model has a built-in digital USB camera (hence the "D" at the beginning of the name, standing for "Digital") – however, the head mounting screw is the same in both cases.

Replacing the head mounting screw may be necessary, for example, when:

  • the screw is missing from the microscope, which is common with used microscopes
  • the screw in the microscope is bent or broken, which often happens when the microscope is not properly secured for transport
  • the screw in the microscope is in poor condition, e.g. damaged because someone tried to force it out with pliers
