Zeiss Axiolab microscope potentiometer for brightness control of halogen illumination

Potentiometer for brightness control of the halogen illumination for Carl Zeiss Axiolab microscopes and similar models.

This is a set consisting of:
- the knob, which sits on the outside of the microscope housing
- the potentiometer
- the 3-wire cable with a flat plug

Purpose: brightness control of the 6V 20W-25W and 30W halogen bulb. This potentiometer has to work together with the electronics of the transformer built into the microscope body.

This potentiometer was removed from a Zeiss Axiolab re microscope, P/N 45 09 05 (also written as 450905). However, it also fits the following variants:

  • Zeiss Axiolab drb KT, which carries the same number 45 09 05 (450905)
  • Zeiss Axiolab E re, 45 09 07 (450907)
  • Zeiss Axiolab A, 45 09 09 (450909)
  • Zeiss Axiolab Pol, 45 09 10 (450910)


I was not able to confirm this, but in my opinion it is very likely that the potentiometer from the Zeiss Axiolab microscope also fits the following microscopes:

  • Zeiss Standard 20
  • Zeiss Standard 25 ICS
  • Zeiss Axiostar
  • Zeiss Axioskop 20
  • Zeiss Axiovert 25


The part offered here can be a remedy for the following problems with a Zeiss microscope:

  • if the illumination intensity control in the microscope has stopped working completely (but be careful, the cause may also lie on the side of the electronics)
  • if the bulb flickers while you adjust the brightness
  • if, for example, due to mechanical damage the knob has broken off your potentiometer
