Designed for any microscope illuminator using a light source (lamp) rated at up to 100 W and operating at 12 V. It is most commonly used with external HAL 100 halogen illuminators (so-called Lampenhaus units), for example in reflected-light EPI illuminators.

This power supply can be used with illuminators and microscopes from any manufacturer. Here are several configurations verified in practice:
- compatible with the PZO Biolar DIC microscope fitted with the PZO OH-1 halogen illuminator, replacing the PZO ZM-100 or PZO ZH-100 power supply
- if the internal power supply in the base of an Olympus BH-2 BHS microscope fails, the original halogen illuminator can be powered using this external Zeiss power supply
- compatible with the large external halogen illuminator used for reflected-light EPI illumination on Carl Zeiss Jena Amplival Pol and Vertival microscopes
- also compatible with the Reichert Zetopan microscope equipped with the LUX-US 12 V 100 W halogen illuminator
Note – different manufacturers and different illuminators may use different pin spacing in their 12 V connectors. It may therefore be necessary to modify the connector in order to connect it to this Zeiss power supply.
