This is description of this part:
Service microscope part (repair element) for Carl Zeiss Jena Ergaval / Amplival microscopes and related models.
This is the coarse and fine focus shaft, meaning the shaft with focusing knobs mounted on both ends on the sides of the microscope. Part of this shaft contains a toothed rack, or more precisely speaking, it is a toothed shaft. In the item shown and offered here, the fine focus knob (micro focus) is mounted on the left end of the shaft. Please note that the left and right knobs are identical - however, screws of different lengths are used to attach them: the left knob is attached with a 12 mm screw, while the right knob uses a 16 mm screw. Detailed information about the screws used to attach the coarse and fine focus knobs can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/MikroskopyPZO/posts/pfbid0x2tFPHAEqjn4B7BRsvm2vAt9yyuuSM836QS6K4951GqeUFpU2FJH8YXfFFxbz3cPl
Such focus shafts are used in the following microscopes:
- Carl Zeiss Jena Ergaval
- Carl Zeiss Jena Amplival (and its variants: Fluoval, Epival, Vertival, Interphako)
- Carl Zeiss Jena Metaval
- Carl Zeiss Jena Docuval
This coarse and fine focus shaft may help solve the following problems in Carl Zeiss Jena Ergaval / Amplival microscopes and related models:
- if the shaft became bent, causing a noticeable jump while rotating it (a very common failure)
- if the screw holding the fine focus knob broke off or snapped, leaving part of the screw inside the shaft
- if the left fine focus knob is missing or damaged
- if the thread on the right or left end of the shaft, where the fine focus knobs are attached, is damaged
- if the toothed rack on the shaft (because such a shaft is effectively a toothed shaft) becomes damaged
What is this part needed for?
- as a service element in the form of replacing the complete assembly if exactly this element or one of its component parts is damaged in the repaired microscope
