This is description of this part:
Microscope objective with RMS thread and 40x magnification, featuring increased numerical aperture, designed for water immersion and optimized optical correction for fluorescence illumination.
Manufacturer: LOMO
Model: WI 40 0.75 L
Magnification: 40x
Numerical aperture: 0.75
Optical correction: achromat, optimized for fluorescence microscopy
Tube length: 160 mm
Focal length: approx. 33 mm
Immersion: water
Designation: L = luminescence
Thread: RMS
Year of manufacture: 1974
Despite the L designation, the objective can of course also be used with standard transmitted light illumination.
LOMO objectives marked with L luminescence differ from non-marked versions by:
- improved transmission in the UV and blue spectral range
- reduced autofluorescence of optical glass
- no or strongly reduced use of organic adhesives in the optical assembly
What is this part needed for?
- If you want to upgrade your Lomo microscope with original parts
- If you need a 40x water immersion objective lens for Lomo, Carl Zeiss Jena, PZO, IOR, or other microscopes requiring 33mm and 160mm lenses
- If you have a Lomo microscope from 1974 (the serial number begins with "74") and want original-era objectives
- If you don't like oil immersion but want better image quality than standard, dry 40x objectives
