This is description of this part:
Achromatic 4x microscope objective by Will Wetzlar.
Manufacturer: Will Wetzlar
Magnification: 4x
Model: 4/0.10 160/-
Numerical aperture N.A.: 0.10
Cover glass: not required
Thread: RMS
Tube length: 160 mm
Focal length: 37 mm
Immersion: no (dry objective)
Thread: RMS
This objective can be used both:
- with biological microscopes operating with transmitted light
- with inverted microscopes
- with microscopes equipped with reflected-light illumination
- for macro photography by directly attaching it to a camera
This is a version of the objective with the markings engraved on the housing rather than merely applied with paint (printed). This is important in terms of the durability of the markings – printed markings (without engraving) very often wear off, in which case the objective parameters are no longer visible.
The companies Eschenbach, Kremp Wetzlar, CBS Beck Kassel, Kosmos Stuttgart and Hund Wetzlar also used objectives manufactured by Will Wetzlar, although their own manufacturer name was often printed on the objectives. It can therefore be said with a high degree of confidence that this objective will fit microscopes from these companies – but it is worth checking the focal length first (37 mm or 45 mm).
This objective fits practically any microscope from any manufacturer, provided that it has an RMS thread and supports objectives designed for TL = 160 mm and with a focal length of 37 mm. Several examples of such microscopes are listed in the “compatibility” section, but this is not a complete list.
