Hertel & Reuss microscope condenser 31,5 mm.

The name of this microscope part.

Microscope condenser, mount diam. 31,5 mm., incl. iris diaphragm and holder for 32 mm filters. Unscrewable top lens.

Description of this part for the microscope.

It contains a screw used to set the position (height) of the condenser in the holder. It can be unscrewed and then it will fit any holder with a diameter of 31. ...

5 mm or others if you put a thickening ring on it.
The upper lens for strong magnifications can be unscrewed and then we get a condenser for objectives with low magnification and low numerical aperture.
I can't (or it is not possible) unscrew the lower part with the diaphragm separately.

  • For anyone whose microscope lacks a condenser. Can be used with any microscope that uses 31.5 mm diameter condensers.
  • The upper lens sometimes gets damaged in condensers. This may be the reason for replacing the entire element. Check if such a smaller part is available for sale as a separate product.
  • Very (!) often the iris diaphragm in the condenser breaks. The leaves break, bend or get lost. This may be the reason for replacing the entire element. Check if such a smaller part is available for sale as a separate product.

Hertel & Reuss 5x vintage microscope objective

The name of this microscope part.

Hertel & Reuss 5x microscope objective, vintage

Description of this part for the microscope.

Microscope objective for older microscopes (so-called antique, vintage).

Manufacturer: Hertel & Reuss
Magnification: 5x
Thread: RMS
Tubus length: 170 mm ...

(?)
Focal length: 37 mm

The optics (lenses) in this microscope objective are in very good condition.

There's no manufacturer's marking on the objective lens. Because lenses from different manufacturers looked very similar at the time, I'm not sure whether Hertel & Reuss manufactured the lenses themselves or ordered them from another company (e.g., Leitz). Therefore, these lenses can be safely used with microscopes from many other manufacturers.

Hertel & Reuss BFO microscope trinocular head

The name of this microscope part.

Hertel & Reuss BFO microscope trinocular head

Description of this part for the microscope.

Very rarely encountered on the used equipment market trinocular microscope head manufactured by Hertel & Reuss.

Manufacturer: Hertel & Reuss
Model: BFO (= ...

B=bino, FO = foto)
Eyepiece diameter: 23.2 mm
Mounting diameter: 50 mm
Photo thread: 24 mm (M24)

A trinocular head is a binocular microscope head with an additional third optical port for connecting a camera or photographic device.

This particular unit comes from a Hertel & Reuss Studio II microscope, but it also works with any other microscope model from this manufacturer that has an interchangeable head with a mounting diameter of 50 mm.
NOTE - as far as I remember, not all H&R microscopes have an easily interchangeable head; this applies, for example, to the Primus model.

NOTE - some microscope models from Steindorff Berlin also have a head mounting diameter of 50 mm and are fully compatible with H&R heads - an example of such a microscope with a Hertel & Reuss head can be seen on Facebook at the following address: https://www.facebook.com/groups/136833493390496/posts/1722336908173472/

Hertel & Reuss mechanical XY cross mechanism for microscope stage "A"

The name of this microscope part.

Hertel & Reuss mechanical XY cross mechanism for microscope stage "A"

Description of this part for the microscope.

An XY cross stage is used for precise manipulation of a slide with a specimen on the microscope stage.

The basic versions of the Hertel & Reuss microscopes have ...

simple microscope stages with clips for holding the specimen. Therefore, at magnifications above 400x, manually manipulating the slide with the specimen becomes very difficult. XY cross stages are used for this purpose, for example, to move the specimen very precisely at 500x, 600x od 1000x magnification with oil immersion.

This is not a cheap plastic cross stage - it is a well-made Hertel & Reuss design.

NOTE - if the mounting pin spacing matches, this cross stage can be mounted on stages from virtually any manufacturer.

Note - this is version "A" of the XY cross-stage mechanism - it differs from version "B" only in the shape of the screws, but in order to ensure that my photos always show the original item, each variant is listed separately in the database.

Note - Hertel & Reuss manufactured cross stages with fixed specimen clamps as well as a model with a spring-loaded clamp. Here I present and offer the version with fixed clamps.

Hertel & Reuss mechanical XY cross mechanism for microscope stage | specimen holder

The name of this microscope part.

Hertel & Reuss mechanical XY cross mechanism for microscope stage | specimen holder

Note - Hertel & Reuss manufactured cross stages with fixed specimen clamps as well as a model with a spring-loaded clamp. Here I present and offer the version with spring.
