This is description of this part:

Rotatable insert (slider) with infrared filter and iris diaphragm for the microscope condenser of Lomo microscopes of the MIK series (e.g. MIK-1 or MIK-4).

This insert fits condensers used in the following Lomo microscopes:
- MIK-1
- MIK-4
- Polam (all models)
- MIN-8

and most likely also in other microscopes that use similarly designed condensers. Note - to make sure that this insert fits your condenser, be sure to check the diameter of this element.

The transmitted light condenser in these microscopes features:
- interchangeable upper lenses to obtain the required aperture
- a diaphragm located below the upper lens
- a slot for inserting a IR filter insert (the insert may, but does not have to, include an additional iris diaphragm)

In some cases, this insert alone can be used without the condenser - the effect is similar to a condenser with a IR filter of low N.A.
This element is often used by owners of microscopes from other manufacturers to convert their condenser into a infrared condenser.

Since this element can be removed relatively easily, it is very often missing in microscopes from the secondary market.

IMPORTANT - this is not a separate microscope condenser. It is a component of the condenser, even though it is sometimes used as a substitute for a condenser.
