Motic B1 / SFC-100 10x microscope objective RMS 10/0.25 160/-

The name of this microscope part.

Motic B1 / SFC-100 10x microscope objective RMS 10/0.25 160/-

Description of this part for the microscope.

Microscope objective with 10x magnification for MOTIC microscopes.

Basic parameters of this objective:
Manufacturer: MOTIC
Engraving on the barrel: 10/0. ...

25 160/0.17
Magnification: 10x
Numerical aperture N.A.: 0.25
Tube length: 160 mm
Parfocal length: 45 mm
Cover glass: according to the engraving on the barrel 0.17 mm, but with 10x objectives a cover glass is in practice not required - the objective works both with and without one
Immersion: no (this is a dry objective)
Thread: RMS

I have personally tested this objective with the following microscopes:
- MOTIC B1
- MOTIC SFC-100
- PZO Studar
- Carl Zeiss Jena Ergaval
- Olympus CH

This MOTIC microscope objective will work well in a microscope from any manufacturer, provided it has an RMS thread, optics corrected for a 160 mm tube length and accepts objectives with a 45 mm parfocal length. As for the parfocal length: in the vast majority of cases (almost always) objectives with a 45 mm parfocal length can also be fitted to microscopes originally sold with so-called short barrel objectives, that is with a 33 mm or 37 mm parfocal length. In such a case it is more convenient not to mix the objectives and to have them all of the same length - but that is only a matter of convenience, not a requirement. In the compatibility section I do not list microscopes from other manufacturers, because that list would need several hundred entries.

This also works the other way round: in the MOTIC B1 and MOTIC SFC-100 microscopes you can use any objective with an RMS thread, corrected for a 160 mm tube length and with a 45 mm parfocal length - from any manufacturer. These can be unbranded objectives, PZO or Carl Zeiss Jena objectives - but the objective offered here will please those who own a MOTIC microscope and want to complete it with original parts.

Motic BA310 / BA210 EF-N Plan 40x/0.65 oo/0.17 microscope objective CCIS

The name of this microscope part.

Motic BA310 / BA210 EF-N Plan 40x/0.65 oo/0.17 microscope objective CCIS

Description of this part for the microscope.

Planachromatic microscope objective with 40x magnification for the Motic BA210 and BA310 microscopes.

Manufacturer: Motic
Marking on the objective: Motic EF- ...

N Plan 40x/0.65 ∞/0.17
Magnification: 40x
Correction: PLAN achromatic
Optical system: CCIS (Color Corrected Infinity System - part of the image correction is performed by the tube lens of the Motic stand, which is why the objective is intended for stands of this brand)
Numerical aperture N.A.: 0.65
Working distance W.D.: approx. 0.4-0.5 mm
Tube length: infinity
Parfocal distance: 45 mm
Field number F.N.: 20
Cover glass: yes, 0.17 mm thick
Immersion: no (this is a dry objective)
Thread: RMS
Spring-loaded mount: yes - the front mount retracts when pressed against the specimen, which at a working distance of about half a millimetre saves both the objective and the cover glass
Lead-free glass: yes - the mount carries the crossed-out Pb symbol
Colour ring: blue, according to the colour code for 40x magnification

Objectives of the EF-N Plan series were the factory equipment of the older generation of the Motic BA210 and BA310 microscopes, while the newer models of these series, designated Elite (BA210E, BA310E), are fitted with the next-generation EC Plan objectives - this objective is therefore the correct spare part for the older stands and not for the Elite versions.

Mechanically this objective can be screwed into the nosepiece of many other microscopes, since the RMS thread and the 45 mm parfocal distance are standard - a correct image, however, cannot be obtained that way.
- in older stands corrected for 160 mm it will not work, because it is an infinity-corrected objective and requires a tube lens
- in stands of other manufacturers, including infinity-corrected ones, a residual aberration remains, because part of the correction is performed by the tube lens of the CCIS system, which is built into the stand of the Motic microscope and matched by the manufacturer to exactly this optics
- in the remaining Motic microscopes with the CCIS system the objective does produce an image, but it is not the factory choice for them - in stands with field number 22 it runs out of field, and in inverted stands it runs out of working distance.

Will Wetzlar V100 / V200 microscope XY stage attachment left sided / cross specimen holder | Zeiss Jena Laboval and Olympus CH compatible

The name of this microscope part.

Will Wetzlar V100 / V200 microscope XY stage attachment left sided / cross specimen holder | Zeiss Jena Laboval and Olympus CH compatible

Description of this part for the microscope.

Left-hand XY mechanical stage attachment for Will Wetzlar microscopes and for microscopes of other makes with stages 10 to 12 mm thick. It is used for precise movement ...

of the slide with the specimen on the microscope stage.

The simpler Will Wetzlar microscopes of the V100 and V200 series were sold with a square stage that had no integrated mechanical stage mechanism for precise movement of the specimen. Such a mechanism is a separate (and optional) part, screwed to the side of the stage - and it is exactly this accessory that is offered here.

Basic information:
Item: mechanical stage attachment for a microscope stage
Manufacturer: Will Wetzlar
Fits: microscopes of any make with a stage from 10 mm to 12 mm thick
Mounting: screwed to the side of the stage, on the left, with two screws

Once this mechanism is fitted, the coaxial knobs used to move the specimen are located on the handle on the left side of the stage.

Important note on compatibility:

Originally, attachments of this kind were used in the Will Wetzlar microscopes of the V100 and V200 series (that is, in the VM-V1xx, VB-V1xx, VM-V2xx and VB-V2xx models). I have personally fitted it to the following models as well:
- Will Wetzlar V255, V150
- Carl Zeiss Jena Eduval
- Carl Zeiss Jena Laboval-2
- Motic SFC100
- Olympus CH
- Olympus CH2

This XY mechanism also fits microscopes of other makes, provided the thickness of the stage is between 10 and 12 mm.

It is also worth remembering that microscopes made by Will Wetzlar were sold under the following names as well:
- Hund Wetzlar
- Dr. G. Schuchardt Göttingen
- Opt. Inst. G.K.E. Schröder
Microscopes carrying any of these names should therefore also be taken into account when considering the compatibility of this mechanical stage attachment.

The last photograph in the gallery shows a Will Wetzlar microscope of the V100 series, with an arrow indicating which part is meant and where it sits on the microscope. In addition, the video in the video gallery shows this attachment from various angles, together with the movement of its moving parts.

At magnifications above 400x, moving the slide with the specimen by hand becomes very difficult. This is precisely why mechanical stage attachments are used: to move the specimen very precisely at, for example, 600x or at 1000x with oil immersion.

Olympus CHK / CH-2 microscope mechanical stage attachment | Olympus CH XY cross specimen holder

The name of this microscope part.

Olympus CHK / CH-2 microscope mechanical stage attachment | Olympus CH XY cross specimen holder

Description of this part for the microscope.

XY mechanical stage attachment for Olympus CH series microscopes. It is used for precise movement of the microscope slide across the microscope stage.

Simpler ...

Olympus CHK / CH / CH-2 microscope models were supplied with a square stage that does not include an integrated XY mechanical stage for precise specimen movement. Such a mechanism is a separate (optional) accessory mounted to the side of the stage, and this is exactly the accessory shown and offered here.

Basic information:
Item: XY mechanical stage attachment for microscope stage
Manufacturer: Olympus
Manufacturer's descriptive name: Fixed type mechanical stage with right downward coaxial knob for plane stage fixed
For microscope: Olympus CHK
Mounting method: attached to the side of the stage with two screws
Required stage thickness: from 10 mm to 12 mm

Important compatibility information:
Originally, this mechanical stage attachment was used on the Olympus CHK microscope. I have personally also installed it on Olympus CH and Olympus CH-2 microscopes, and it is fully compatible with both models.

If CH and CH-2 microscopes were originally supplied with an XY mechanical stage, they used the Olympus CH-MVR attachment, but this CHK version fits as well.

In addition, this XY mechanism is compatible with other microscopes provided that the stage thickness is between 10 mm and 12 mm. I have personally verified compatibility with the stages of the following microscopes:
- Carl Zeiss Jena Eduval
- Carl Zeiss Jena Laboval-2
- Motic SFC100

The last photographs in the gallery show the complete Olympus CHK microscope. An arrow indicates exactly which component is being offered and where it is located within the microscope. The final photograph also shows an Olympus CH-2 microscope fitted with this XY mechanical stage attachment.

In addition, the video available in the video gallery shows this stage from various angles and demonstrates the movement of all mechanical parts.

At magnifications above 400×, manually moving the microscope slide becomes very difficult. This is exactly why XY mechanical stage attachments are used, allowing the specimen to be moved with great precision at magnifications such as 600× or 1000× using oil immersion.
