Leitz Wetzlar Heine microscope condenser 39,5 mm | Carl Zeiss Jena and PZO Biolar compatible
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Heine microscope condenser made by Leitz Wetzlar.
A Heine condenser allows smooth, continuous switching between different observation techniques: -
...
bright field - dark field - oblique illumination - phase contrast
It can work with phase objectives of different magnifications and from different manufacturers (it is sufficient to manually adjust the ring diameter).
Basic parameters: Manufacturer: Leitz Wetzlar Model: Heine condenser Mounting diameter: 39.5 mm Numerical aperture N.A.: variable, up to 1.4
This Heine condenser was designed for microscopes with a condenser holder in the form of a circular clamp (e.g. Leitz SM microscopes). It is not a condenser that slides into mounting rails (as found, for example, in the Leitz Orthoplan microscope).
This condenser fits microscopes from many manufacturers (e.g. PZO, Steindorff Berlin, Zeiss, Carl Zeiss Jena, Leitz, Kremp Wetzlar, Will Wetzlar and many others) equipped with a 39.5 mm condenser holder.

Lomo Polam polarizing microscope camera photo tube for trinocular head | Carl Zeiss Jena compatible
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Photo tube / camera adapter for the Lomo TRN-1 trinocular head used in Lomo Polam microscopes - but also compatible with many other microscopes manufactured by Lomo,
...
Carl Zeiss Jena, PZO, Meopta, Olympus, IOR and others.
This tube makes it possible to connect a camera or photographic camera to a trinocular head or directly to the microscope body, even when no trinocular head is installed.
Originally, this adapter was designed for the Lomo TRN-1 trinocular head. This head was used in Lomo Polam polarizing microscopes from the early 1970s onwards.
Several remarks regarding the model designation of the trinocular head for which this component was originally intended: - the name Lomo TRN-1 is the Latin alphabet designation. In Cyrillic script the model designation appears as TPH (for example model TPH1Y4.2), and this designation is used in the manual for the Lomo Polam L-211 microscope - the vast majority of these trinocular heads are not marked with any model designation - the Envirotools website http://www.envirotools.hu/ateso_fenyu_polarizacios_mikroszkop.htm refers to this trinocular head as HU-POL
In the last photograph, an arrow indicates exactly which component is being offered and where it is located in the Lomo Polam microscope, allowing this part to be identified unambiguously.
Basic technical parameters of this tube: Mounting method to the trinocular head or microscope: 41 mm dovetail mount (this is also the Carl Zeiss Jena standard) Camera mounting method: male M39 thread Alternative camera mounting method: since the M39 thread can be removed, a plain smooth tube with a diameter of 35 mm remains Additional optics: yes, the original optics are installed inside, although they can be removed, leaving only an "empty tube".
This is not "a tube dedicated to a specific microscope model". It is a tube originally mounted on the third port (photo port) of a trinocular head. Since a trinocular head can be installed on microscopes other than the model with which it was originally supplied, this tube can be regarded as a universal accessory.
These technical parameters make it possible to use this tube with virtually any microscope manufactured by: - Lomo (for example Biolam, Polam, MBB-1A and others) - Carl Zeiss Jena (for example Ergaval, Amplival, Jenamed and others) - IOR, Meopta and other manufacturers using a 41 / 41.5 mm dovetail mount
In addition, a 41 mm dovetail tube can easily be mounted on microscopes equipped with a 42 mm or 43 mm opening, for example: - Olympus (for example CH, CH-2, BH-2 models) - PZO (for example Biolar, Studar, MB-30 and others)
The entire list of microscope manufacturers and models given above may also be treated as a list of microscopes compatible with the Lomo TRN-1 trinocular head. Indeed, many examples can be found on the Internet showing this head being used with microscopes made by manufacturers other than Lomo.
Because this tube is equipped with an M39 thread by default, almost any camera or photographic camera can be attached by means of a suitable adapter, for example: - devices with M42 threads - devices with C-mount threads - Nikon, Sony, Olympus and other camera standards
This is therefore a universal photo tube featuring a 41 mm dovetail on one side and either an M39 thread or a 35 mm tube on the other side.
In the image gallery, every photograph includes a millimetre scale, and in addition, the dimensions of the dovetail, tube and thread have been measured with calipers so that compatibility can be determined precisely.

Carl Zeiss Jena PK 20x (8) microscope eyepieces 23,2 mm (pair)
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Plan compensating microscope eyepieces manufactured by Carl Zeiss Jena with a high magnification of 20x.
Manufacturer: Carl Zeiss Jena Model: PK 20x
...
(8) Magnification: 20x Field of view: 8 Mounting diameter: 23.2 mm Designation: PK = plan compensating - recommended for use with plan achromatic objectives, but they also work perfectly with achromatic and apochromatic objectives
Due to their very high quality, these eyepieces are often used together with microscopes from other manufacturers, especially when Carl Zeiss Jena Planachromat objectives are installed.
Important: these eyepieces can be used both with finite tube microscopes (e.g. 160 mm) and infinity-corrected microscopes. This means that they can be used, for example, both on a Carl Zeiss Jena Amplival microscope and on a Carl Zeiss Jena NU-2 microscope.
Note - in my opinion, eyepieces with such a high magnification are recommended rather for "inspection" than for continuous work. I deliberately write "I recommend" because this is my personal opinion based on practical use and not on the manufacturer's documentation. An eyepiece magnification of 20x should rather be treated as a zoom without revealing additional details (the resolution is not increased). This is important, for example, in heads with built-in magnification (e.g. Carl Zeiss Jena heads with built-in magnification of 1.5x or 1.6x) - when working with a 100x oil immersion objective, we theoretically obtain 100*1.5*20 = 3000x, while physics does not allow the human eye to magnify visible light beyond approximately 1250x - therefore this is a so-called "empty magnification".

Carl Zeiss Jena Ergaval / Amplival microscope condenser holder model MZ
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Holder for mounting interchangeable microscope condensers for Carl Zeiss Jena microscopes.
This condenser holder is a separate, removable module that can be
...
unscrewed. It is mounted onto the dovetail guide located underneath the microscope stage carrier and secured with a clamping screw.
Carl Zeiss Jena Ergaval microscopes were originally equipped with a condenser attached to the "MO" holder. This holder has a permanently mounted iris diaphragm and wide-field lens, while the condenser itself is screwed into the upper thread. In this configuration, the condenser cannot be exchanged. The Carl Zeiss Jena Fluoval uses a similar arrangement, whereas the Carl Zeiss Jena Amplival was originally equipped with a panchromatic condenser.
If the user wishes to use other condensers (including those made by manufacturers other than Carl Zeiss Jena), the original condenser holder must be replaced with the MZ condenser holder. Once this has been done, any microscope condenser with a mounting diameter of 39.5 mm can be installed. Condensers with a 37 mm mounting diameter can also be used if they are fitted with a suitable adapter ring.
This is exactly such a holder for interchangeable condensers.
Basic specifications: Manufacturer: Carl Zeiss Jena Original documentation name and model: Kondensor-Einhänger MZ Colour: grey, the version manufactured for the Mikroval microscope series Internal diameter: for mounting condensers with a 39.5 mm mounting diameter (for example the Carl Zeiss Jena cardioid darkfield condenser) Condenser retaining screw: yes, central condenser clamping screw Centering screws: yes, two condenser centering screws Microscope mounting: dovetail
Although this component is grey, it is also compatible with older black Carl Zeiss Jena microscopes from the 1950s and 1960s (it simply will not look completely original unless it is repainted).
This condenser holder is compatible with, among others: - Carl Zeiss Jena Ng (black microscope) - Carl Zeiss Jena Polmi-A (black microscope) - Carl Zeiss Jena Nf (black microscope) - Carl Zeiss Jena Nu (the NU-2 version is grey) - Carl Zeiss Jena Ergaval (grey microscope) - Carl Zeiss Jena Fluoval / Fluoval-2 (grey microscope) - Carl Zeiss Jena Amplival and its variants (grey microscope) - Carl Zeiss Jena Docuval (grey microscope)
Various names are used for this microscope component, including: - condenser holder - condenser carrier - condenser mount - condenser support
The last photograph includes an excerpt from the original manufacturer's documentation. An arrow indicates this exact model of condenser holder, making it easy to identify the component.

Carl Zeiss Jena Pictoval microscope monocular head for eyepiece with 23,2mm diameter | projection tube
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Monocular microscope head with adjustable tube tilt angle for eyepieces with a 23.2 mm mounting diameter.
This model of microscope head was used as a projection
...
head in Carl Zeiss Jena Pictoval projection microscopes (microprojectors). The adjustable tilt angle of the eyepiece tube, which held a projection eyepiece (usually f=100), allowed the position of the projected image on the projection surface to be changed.
Basic parameters: Manufacturer: Carl Zeiss Jena Eyepiece mounting diameter: 23.2 mm Mounting to the microscope arm: 41 mm diameter dovetail ring
Because this microscope head has a Carl Zeiss Jena standard microscope mount (a 41 mm diameter dovetail ring), it can be mounted on most microscopes from this manufacturer (e.g. Carl Zeiss Jena Eduval, Laboval, Ergaval, Amplival, etc.), as well as on microscopes made by Lomo (e.g. Lomo Biolam), IOR and Meopta.
It seems useful to mention a few points: - never look through this microscope head with the naked eye if a projection eyepiece is installed in it and the head is mounted in a Carl Zeiss Jena Pictoval microprojector. This may result in loss of eyesight due to the very high light output emitted by this microscope - when mounting this microscope head on a microscope other than a Carl Zeiss Jena Pictoval, a different magnification scale may be obtained than with the original heads designed for the particular microscope model - projecting a microscope image requires a great deal of light, i.e. a powerful illuminator. This is worth remembering if you intend to use this head to project an image from biological microscopes with standard incandescent illumination (e.g. 15 W 6 V), which is definitely not sufficient - visual observation using this microscope head may be inconvenient because it has a different (smaller) tilt angle than standard monocular or binocular microscope heads

Carl Zeiss Jena Fluoval / Ergaval microscope Apl.1,4 condenser with iris diaphragm
|

Description of this part for the microscope.
Aplanatic bright-field microscope condenser Apl. 1,4 by Carl Zeiss Jena, with mounting, wide-field lens and iris diaphragm.
Basic data and para
...
meters: Manufacturer: Carl Zeiss Jena Designation: Apl. 1,4 Name of the mount according to the manufacturer's catalogue: Kondensoreinhänger mfl 2, Bestellnummer 301080:021.26/0 Name of the condenser according to the manufacturer's catalogue: Aplanatischer Kondensor 1.4 mo / ms (applies only to the upper optical part) Name of the condenser according to the manufacturer's catalogue: Kondensor hoher Lichtstärke mit Vorschaltsystem (applies to the entire module) Version: grey colour with a black upper lens. Variant with a "dot" in the name after "Apl" Numerical aperture N.A.: 1.4 Aperture diaphragm: yes, attached to the condenser mount Wide-field lens: yes, it can be swung out of the optical path. This is the version with the large lens in a housing (see description below) Removable upper lens: yes, it can be rotated Mounting diameter: the optical part (condenser without diaphragm) has a mounting diameter of 39.5 mm and can be unscrewed from the condenser mount Operating modes: the condenser can be used both as a dry condenser and as an immersion condenser
The entire part consists of the following elements: - upper Apl. 1,4 lens - screw-on/removable condenser (mo / ms) - iris diaphragm screwed onto the condenser mount - condenser mount model mfl 2 - swing-out wide-field lens - two centering screws
This condenser is mainly used in Carl Zeiss Jena Fluoval / Fluoval-2 fluorescence microscopes. It is optimal for use with high-numerical-aperture apochromatic microscope objectives. For precisely this reason, users often install it on Carl Zeiss Jena Ergaval and Carl Zeiss Jena Amplival microscopes equipped with apochromatic objectives (Carl Zeiss Jena Apochromat).
It is worth mentioning again that this condenser can be used in two modes: - without immersion oil on the upper lens of the condenser. In this case, it operates as a "dry condenser" and its numerical aperture N.A. is 0.9. - with immersion oil on the upper lens of the condenser (i.e. underneath the microscope slide). In this case, it operates as an "immersion condenser" and its numerical aperture N.A. is 1.4, allowing a very bright image to be obtained – this is important in fluorescence microscopy or when using high-N.A. immersion objectives.
During production, this condenser was available in several versions: - with a black upper lens, a dot in the model name (Apl. 1,4) and a wide-field module consisting of a single lens - with a black upper lens, without a dot in the model name (Apl 1,4) and a single wide-field module consisting of several lenses (including one with a very small diameter) - with a grey upper lens marked Apl 1,4mo2 and a single wide-field module consisting of several lenses (including one with a very small diameter) - with a grey upper lens marked Apl 1,4mo2 and a wide-field module consisting of two independently swing-out lenses, each on its own mount
I have not found any information anywhere as to whether the above-mentioned versions differ in their operation. From experience, I know that they are used interchangeably – but I do not know whether any differences in operation can actually be noticed.
Mechanically, this condenser is mounted on dovetail rails located underneath the microscope stage. In Carl Zeiss Jena Ergaval microscopes, this is a separate condenser mounting block, whereas in Carl Zeiss Jena Fluoval / Amplival microscopes, the dovetail is located on the microscope stage holder block.
The manufacturer describes this condenser as follows: "High-intensity condenser with an auxiliary system for illuminating large fields while imaging the field diaphragm. [...] The condenser of the FLUOVAL 2 can be used as a dry and immersion condenser of the highest aperture to achieve the highest possible excitation intensity. It is equipped with a switchable wide-field system that illuminates the large fields of low-power objectives while providing a sharp image of the field diaphragm in the object plane."

Hund H600 / Wilovert A4/0.10 160/- RMS microscope objective 4x achromatic
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Achromatic microscope objective by Hund Wetzlar.
Manufacturer: Hund Wetzlar Magnification: 4x Model: A 4/0.10 160/- Numerical aperture N.A.: 0.
...
10 Cover glass: not required Thread: RMS Tube length: 160 mm Focal length: 45 mm Immersion: no (dry objective) Thread: RMS
This objective can be used both: - with biological microscopes using transmitted-light illumination - with inverted microscopes - with microscopes with reflected-light illumination - for macro photography by directly connecting it to a camera
This objective fits practically any microscope from any manufacturer, provided that it has an RMS thread and supports objectives for TL=160 mm. Several examples of such microscopes are listed in the "compatibility" section, but this is not a complete list.
Several facts are worth emphasizing: - many Hund Wetzlar microscope models are identical to models sold by Will Wetzlar due to their joint production. For example, the BX300 and Wilovert models even have the same name. Therefore, Hund Wetzlar microscope objectives can also be used with Will Wetzlar microscopes. - the companies Eschenbach, Kremp Wetzlar, CBS Beck Kassel and Kosmos Stuttgart also used Will Wetzlar objectives, so Hund Wetzlar microscope objectives can also be used with microscopes from these manufacturers – but it is worth checking the focal length first (37 mm or 45 mm) - objectives with magnifications below 16x (e.g. 4x / 5x or 10x) fit both classic biological microscopes, microscopes with reflected-light illuminators and inverted microscopes.
