- the element that is attached to the microscope stand (in English: microscope stage holder support)
- and the element attached to it in which interchangeable microscope stages are mounted (in English: microscope stage holder). This element contains two screws for centering the microscope stage and a spring-loaded front screw.

If any of the above microscopes currently has a fixed stage (screwed), it is possible to retrofit a holder for interchangeable stages ( like this: https://www.microscopeparts.eu/part/99175) - this applies to both Carl Zeiss Jena and Lomo microscopes.

From the 1930s to approximately the mid-1960s many German manufacturers produced microscopes with the same stage mounting standard, so this stage will also fit them.

How does compatibility of stages between Carl Zeiss Jena and Lomo microscopes work?
- Carl Zeiss Jena stages for L-Stativ microscopes have a mounting diameter of 71 mm
- Lomo stages for MBR-3 / MBI-1 microscopes have a mounting diameter of 73 mm
- The spring-loaded front screw and long side centering screws in the mounting holder compensate for these differences
- Carl Zeiss Jena stages are more solid, heavier, made of brass
- Lomo stages are lighter, made of aluminium with plastic elements

Note that although this is a round and rotating stage, it is not a polarizing stage. It does not have a micrometer scale to read how many degrees (0-360) the rotation has occurred. Without this scale it can of course be used for amateur observations in polarized light, however for professional applications this is disqualifying.

Mechanically, this condenser is mounted on a dovetail guide located beneath the microscope stage.

Several important notes:
- this pancratic condenser is compatible only with the Carl Zeiss Jena Lumipan microscope
- this condenser is not compatible with the Carl Zeiss Jena Nf or Carl Zeiss Jena Nu / Nu2 microscopes, even though the condenser used in those models is very similar
- this condenser does not include an iris diaphragm because the Carl Zeiss Jena Lumipan microscope has its aperture diaphragm located in the microscope base, directly below the condenser

This condenser is often used as a "donor of parts" for DIY projects, for example:
- the Apl. 1.4 lens is often used to modify (upgrade) condensers with a lower numerical aperture N.A. in various microscopes
- the dark-field lens is very often used to build a custom cardioid condenser

When can a complete microscope stand be useful?
- if you are building a microscope yourself and selecting every component so that the final configuration is exactly what you need
- if you own an older model (e.g. Carl Zeiss Jena Lg) - replacing the stand acts as an upgrade, while the remaining components are compatible between these models (except for the condenser)
- if your microscope is damaged or in poor condition - in this case the stand simply replaces the damaged microscope component
- if you need to replace only a single component in your damaged microscope (for example the fine focus block or the iris diaphragm), but decide to replace the entire stand instead

This is a black tube with an upper element (barrel) 55 mm long. Here (https://www.microscopeparts.eu/gallery/91057) you can see a functionally identical adapter, but grey and with an upper barrel only 25 mm long.

Black adapters of this kind come from the era of the Carl Zeiss Jena L stands (models Carl Zeiss Jena Lg, Lumipan, Ng, Nf or Nu). The grey ones are newer, from the era of the Mikroval series (models Carl Zeiss Jena Laboval, Eduval, Ergaval or Amplival and Docuval).

The mounting fit is of course identical, so both can be used interchangeably.

Because on the output side this adapter has an empty barrel with an inner diameter of 23.2 mm, you can place in it a projection eyepiece of that diameter or a so-called USB eyepiece, that is a digital microscope camera. In addition, adapters between the 23.2 mm barrel and the M42 thread are widely available, and from the M42 thread you can already move on to any other mount: Nikon, Canon, Sony and all the rest.

Such a tube can be mounted directly on the microscope stand, in place of the head. A seat for a ring dovetail of 41.0 - 41.5 mm diameter is found among others in the microscopes:

It is also used in microscopes with a slightly larger seat, among others Zeiss West Germany, Leitz Wetzlar, PZO, Will Wetzlar, Hund Wetzlar.

The adapter can likewise be fitted onto trinocular heads, as many of them have a seat prepared for it, among others:
- the output in the trinocular tubes of the microscopes Carl Zeiss Jena Jenamed, Jenaval, Jenalumar, Jenatech, Jenavert, Jenapol
- the LOMO TRN-1 heads (ЛОМО ТРН-1), found in LOMO Polam microscopes
- some versions of the black intermediate photo tubes for the microscopes Carl Zeiss Jena Lg / Lumipan / Nf and of the grey ones from the Mikroval series (others require a tube that screws in on a thread)

This is not a tube for one particular microscope model. A trinocular head can be mounted not only on the microscope it was sold with, so the correct assumption is that this is a universal tube with a ring dovetail of 41.5 mm diameter on one side and a barrel of 23.2 mm diameter on the other.
